This combined event offers two separate clinics in our popular small group format. Riders choose which clinic to participate in with their horse, and are encouraged to audit the alternate clinic to maximize their learning.

Course 1 & Beyond will run in the mornings, and Course 2/3 in the afternoon.

COURSE 1 & BEYOND OUTLINE

  • Learn to apply the Jonathan Field Horsemanship Training Scale‚ĄĘ with Path, Speed, Bend & Balance, both on the ground and riding.
  • Learn the riding/exercise circle and the 3 steps to cycle through.
  • Discover how to "stretch the elastic band", both physically and emotionally.
  • Find relaxation in movement with the "active neutral sweet spot".
  • Learn a circle program under saddle to develop a comfortable canter through bend & balance.
  • Begin leg yielding and learn how it builds to other maneuvers.
  • Improve your lead departures and build a foundation for lead changes.

COURSE 2/3 OUTLINE

  • Learn the fundamentals of Liberty Training and how it can apply to riding as well.
  • Focus on the next steps in Jonathan's Training Scale, with Bend & Balance, then longitudinal flexions (ground and riding).
  • Become a more precise and balanced rider to help your horse find healthy relaxed movement.
  • Show your horse how to lift his back and use his whole body correctly.
  • Achieve soft transitions and easy, correct canter departures.
  • Learn the 'Samarai Circle' and 'Tye-Dye' exercises to teach elasticity.
‚úī Each clinic has a different dynamic of people and horses. Some lessons may be focused on more than others, including some not mentioned here. If one of these goals is important to you, please mention so at the beginning of the clinic.
